My Weary Soul Finds Rest

The Weary Soul Finds Rest
by Ron Wilkerson

Did you have a hard day today? I certainly did. I thought Satan and his angels would simply shoot flaming arrows but today they seamed like cruise missiles. Satan is very crafy in his attacks, this I will give him, but VICTORY he shall not have over me!!! You see, just when I reach the weakest point, when I am downtrodden and forsaken by what seems like all of heaven and earth; the precious Holy Spirit once again lifts me up on wings like eagles.

I cannot believe what a sweet joy and sensation it is right now to speak with you; what a tremendous honor it is for me. I am nothing, always have been nothing, considered wise by no man. Yet, my Lord has shown me favor in trying my weaknesses. Indeed I suffer. Where it really becomes odd is when I sit on the other side of your computer screen smiling, literally sitting here with a Joy unexpressable and not explainable. I can attest to you that it is God's Word, standing before the Father because I offered my prayers to the Holy Spirit.

Speaking to you from my heart, we have been learning about the Battle for Your Soul, but tonight we focus on that sweet rest we are granted in the midst of fiery trials. God had a man and his name was David. Now this is my kind of guy. He was not afraid to sing to God, never ran from battle, suffered depression, suffered defeat, suffered loss, a wretched sinner to the worst degree, and a murderer. Yet was it said, "He is a man after my own heart"!!! What??? How can that be so? Are you kidding me? Nope. David did one thing right, he confessed his sin. Confession is powerful for you are admitting to your failure, something that is absolutely countercultural as my church would say. Pride is in our nature and acceptance for wrongdoing a man never wants to admit. Not David, he bared his heart for the Lord to see. I find great encouragement and delight in reading his prayers, for they are similar to my own. This particular prayer is a sweet one that ministers to my soul as I think on our gracious God.

Enjoy God's Word below tonight. Meditate on this Word. Don't read it fast, pause and think about the depths of David's feelings. Put yourself and circumstances right there in this prayer, let it renew your mind by the washing of the Water of His Word. I love you all.

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?

2 When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident.
4 One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple.
5 For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock.
6 And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.
7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice, And be gracious to me and answer me.
8 When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, O LORD, I shall seek."
9 Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation!
10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, But the LORD will take me up.
11 Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a level path Because of my foes.
12 Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence.
13 I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.

I bid you all a good night. Do not perform a disservice to your heart and soul tonight by not meditating on the Word given in Psalm 27. This Word is precious like a flawless diamond.

In the words of a man I admire, "If you listen closely, you can almost hear the footsteps of the Messiah". -Jack Kelley

Soon Jesus will come back to this earth, only HE will call with a trumpet not having stepped foot on this planet. We believers shall be caught up with Him in the twinkling of an eye. This will also serve as an eviction notice for Satan. He will have roughly seven years before being bound hand and foot.

What a treasure it is to for God's Grace to find you. In fact it calls you now.  If you hear Him speaking, do not put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Seek Him while He is near, before it is too late.

Email me if you need prayer.  I am here to serve Christ and that means I am here for you.

Shalom
